LYLE MOORE SCHOLARSHIP

The Lyle Moore scholarship class is a very important event in the St. Albert Rotary Music Festival. The award was created in memory and honour of Lyle Moore, a former Rotary member who passed away in 2004.

Lyle was committed to the success of our festival and took on the job of volunteer coordinator in the late 1990s. This meant finding and placing over 200 volunteers each year to allow us to help the registrants to our festival to feel welcome in performance and to assist the adjudicators in doing their job efficiently and comfortably. He was a banker by profession and good friend to all Rotarians.

The Lyle Moore scholarship class is open to all applicants who enter the festival regardless of residence. They must be entering or studying at an undergraduate level or equivalent and be between the ages of 16 to 28. The repertoire can be any solo instrument or voice, and may include concerti with a total maximum performance time of 20 minutes.

A panel of adjudicators representing the disciplines of the performers adjudicate the class and determine the entrant who has the best performance.

The scholarship of $1000 is assigned to the post secondary institution or individual to which the winner will continue his or her studies.

Please note: This local class (00400) is eligible for Provincial recommendation.
